Removing of Campaign Posters

Young environmentalists took down campaign posters nailed to trees around Quezon City on Saturday and berated candidates for setting "bad examples for first-time voters."

The activity was organized by the environmental group Kalikasan (Nature)- People's Network for the Environment (PNE) and joined by the Student Action and Voice for the Environment (SAVE) and the League of Youth for the Environment (LYFE).

SAVE’s Meggie Nolasco, in the same statement, tagged the senatorial candidates and party-list groups “irresponsible” and said they “do not deserve our vote and to win in the coming election."

"The manner in which we treat our trees says a lot about how we regard our environment and, ultimately, the welfare of the people," Nolasco added.

Aside from being eyesores, Nolasco said nailing campaign materials to trees violates laws protecting trees in public places such as Presidential Decree 953 and Republic Act 3571, and the Commission on Elections’ prohibition on posting election propaganda outside designated common poster areas.

Insights:
These candidates must know and respect the environment. And maybe they forget that TREES are one of it. They must not disregard the importance of these living things.. They must be aware and be wise in doing such actions..
